The manor of West Tisted goes back to Anglosaxon times, and after the arrival of the Normans it became the property of the Bishop of Winchester. The church of St Mary Magdalene stands in the grounds of the original manor. It is early Norman, with Saxon influences. The west end window dates from the 1300s, the chancel is a Victorian rebuild, and the alter is 17th century oak.

This is a wonderful circular walk with lovely views, shady woodland and a visit to two churches. One twelfth-century (as described above), the other unique and hidden in the depths of the forest. A little iron church that was built in 1883 which is still open today.

For refreshments at the end of the walk, there is a small pub 4 minutes away on the A32 called Angel Hotel (GU34 3NN). Alternatively you're welcome to bring a picnic.
